Imām ibn Rajab Al Ḥanbali رحمه الله recorded in his Kitāb Latāif al Ma'arif that
'Abdullāh ibn Mubārak رحمه الله visited Imām Sufyān ath-Thawrī رحمه الله on the evening of the day of Arafah and he found him crying
He asked him: Who is the greatest loser on this day? Sufyān replied: "The one who thinks Allāh shall not forgive him!"-

A statement is known among scholars,
"صدقة العلم تعليمه"
i.e. Sadaqa of ilm is to teach it. Scholars mention another narration under this topic,
"مثل الذي يتعلم العلم ثم لا يحدث به: كمثل الذي يكنز الكنز فلا ينفق منه"
Example of a person who learns and does not relay it is like a person who acquires wealth but does not spend from it (i.e. even in sadaqah and zakat)

The eminent Sahābi, 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ūd (رضي الله عنه) was asked:
"Teach me some words that are concise and full of benefit." So he replied:
لا تشرك بالله شيئاً، وزل مع القرآن حيث زال، ومن جاءك بالحق فاقبل منه وإن كان بعيداً بغيضاً، ومن جاءك بالباطل فرده عليه وإن كان قريباً حبيباً
"Do not associate anything with Allāh, and be with the Qur'ān wherever it takes you. Whoever comes with the truth, accept it from him even if he was distant and hated by you. And whoever comes with falsehood, then reject it even if he was close and beloved to you.."

Imām Ibn al-Jawzī رحمه الله said:
"One day, I said in a Sermon:
'O youth! You are like a person travelling in the desert while possessing priceless jewels that he intends to sell in the land of reward. So beware of falling into the trap of his treacherous desire. Do not end up selling what you have for less than what it is worth. Otherwise, upon arriving at your end destination and seeing those who made great profits will make you cry for your loss and say, 'Oh how severe is my regret for that which I neglected in regards to Allāh."

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله stated:
There is nothing more beneficial to the heart than reciting the Qur’ān, with contemplation and reflection. The Qur’ān bequeathes love, aspiration, fear, hope, repentance, reliance, pleasure, contentment, authority, gratitude, patience, and the all other [necessary] conditions that are life [i.e.vital] to the heart and perfection of it. Likewise, it repels all reprehensible characteristics and actions which cause corruption and destroy the heart.
