ummtaalib Posted September 15, 2019 Report Posted September 15, 2019 Ibnul Qayyim رحمه الله said the word الحزن does not appear in the Qur’aan except in the form of forbidding it ولا تهنو ولاتحزنوا or in the form of negating it فلاخوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون And the reason for this is because there is no benefit for having sadness in the heart. The most beloved thing to shaitan is to make the believing slave sad by taking him off track. The Prophet صلی الله عليه وسلم sought refuge in Allah سبحانه وتعالى from sadness. اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الهم والحزن Source Verses in full 1

Bint e Aisha Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim said: يَقول ابن القيم رحمه الله – الحُزنُ يُضعِفُ القَلب ، ويُوهن العَزم ويَضُر الإرادَة ، ولا شيءَ أحب إلى الشيطان مِن حُزن المؤمن “Grief weakens the heart and determination, & hurts the will ; and nothing is more beloved to Shaytan than a sad believer”.
