The Special Durood of Hazrat Ibnu Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) Hazrat Ibnu Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that when he used to recite Durood upon Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), he would recite it in the following words: اَللّٰهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ شَفَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكُبْرٰى وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ الْعُلْيَا وَآتِهِ سُؤْلَهُ فِيْ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُوْلٰى كَمَا آتَيْتَ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَمُوْسٰى O Allah Ta’ala, accept the intercession of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) (i.e. the intercession at the time when all the nations will be in difficulty on the plains of resurrection) and raise him to the highest rank, and grant him what he desires in the Aakhirah and this world, as You granted Ebrahim and Moosa (‘alaihimas salaam). Hazrat Anas bin Nadhr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)’s Love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and his Martyrdom in Uhud When the Muslims were facing defeat in Uhud, the rumour began spreading that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) had been killed. This news caused many of the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) to despair and lose heart. Hazrat Anas bin Nadhr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) happened to see Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) with a group of Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) in a state of utter grief and despondency. He said to them, “Why am I seeing you all so despondent and grieved?” They replied, “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has been slain.” Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) exclaimed, “Then who would like to live after him? Come, let us go forward with our swords and join our beloved, the Messenger (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)!” No sooner did he utter these words than he plunged into the enemy lines and fought bravely till he was martyred. Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had such extreme love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) that he did not consider this life worth living without him.

The Salem family of Sheikh Jarrah in JerusalemT theimeu Fatima Salem is nearly 70 years old, but instead of spending time with her grandchildren, she is spending her days fighting to keep the only place she’s ever called home. Why? Because Israel is planning to force Fatima and her family from their home, the place Fatima was born, as soon as next month. The plan is part of a larger effort to take over the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah and replace its Palestinian citizens with illegal Jewish Israeli settlers. If Israel forces the Salem family out of their home—where Fatima lives with 10 other family members, including children—it will be the second time that Israel has uprooted the Salem family in order to steal their land. The first was in 1948 when Israel was founded. The Salem family is one of many Palestinian families whom Israel is attempting to force out of Sheikh Jarrah. They will all be made homeless if Israel goes through with its plans. As Israel prepares to kick the Salem family out of their home, Israeli settlers, military, and police have been harassing the family outside of their home, injuring many, including Fatima herself. The Salem family and other Palestinian families targeted by Israel have put out an urgent call to the international community to stand up against Israel’s destruction of their homes. #SaveSheikhJarrah #SaveJerusalem #FreePalestine

All eyes on SheikhJarrah once more Tensions are going high now in Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood following the arrival of far-right Israeli MK Itamar Ben-Gvir to the neighborhood, hours after he announced he's considering to open a makeshift office in the highly-tense neighborhood. The elderly Palestinian woman Fatima Salim got injured after she was attacked by Israeli settlers near her home in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. The family of Salim is under the threat of forceful eviction by occupation authorities in favor of Israeli settlers. Violent ethnic cleansing in Sheikh Jarrah Zionist settlers united with Israeli soldiers, broke into land belonging to the Salim family, attacked Palestinian residents, erected an outpost and danced in front of the family that has been fighting against apartheid and their imminent ethnic-cleansing for decades. Valentine Daze Who was Valentine? Why is this day observed? Valentine’s Day began as a pagan ritual started by Romans in the 4th century BC to honour the god Lupercus. The main attraction of this ritual was a lottery held to distribute young women to young men for “entertainment and pleasure” – until the next year’s lottery. As usual, Christianity tried, without success, to stop the evil celebration of Lupercalia. It first replaced the lottery of the names of women with a lottery of the names of the saints. The idea was that during the following year the young men would emulate the life of the saint whose name they had drawn. The only success it had was in changing the name from Lupercalia to St. Valentine’s Day. It was done in CE 496 by Pope Gelasius, in honour of some Saint Valentine. There are as many as 50 different Valentines in Christian legends. According to one legend, St. Valentine was a “lovers’” saint, who had himself fallen in love with his jailer’s daughter. Due to serious troubles that accompanied such lottery, French government banned the practice in 1776. In Italy, Austria, Hungry, and Germany also the ritual vanished over the years. Earlier, it had been banned in England during the 17th century when the Puritans were strong. However in 1660 Charles II revived it. From there it also reached the New World, where enterprising Yankees spotted a good means of making money. Esther A. Howland, who produced one of the first commercial American Valentine’s Day cards called valentines, in the 1840s, sold $5,000 worth (when $5,000 was a lot of money) the first year. The valentine industry has been booming ever since. Of Valentine’s Day, Christianity changed its name, but not the pagan moorings. How can anyone think that Islam would be indifferent to practices seeped in anti-Islamic ideas and beliefs? Islam came to destroy paganism in all its forms and it cannot tolerate any trace of it in the lives of its followers.Further, Islam is very sensitive about maintaining its purity and the unique identity of its followers. Islamic laws and teachings go to extra lengths to ensure it. Salaah is prohibited at the precise times of sunrise, transition, and sunset to eliminate the possibility of confusion with the practice of sun worship. To the voluntary recommended fast on the tenth of Muharram, Muslims are required to add another day (9th or 11th) to differentiate it from the then prevalent Jewish practice. Muslims are forbidden to emulate the appearance of non-Muslims. A Muslim is a Muslim for life. During joys and sorrows, during celebrations and sufferings, we must follow the one straight path – not many divergent paths. It is a great tragedy that under the constant barrage of commercial and cultural propaganda from the forces of globalization and the relentless media machine, Muslims have begun to embrace the Valentines, the Halloween ghost, and even Santa Claus. May Allah Ta’ala guide us and keep us upon His pristine pure Deen. Ameen. Al Balagh

BRITAIN IS ENSURING THE DEATH OF A PALESTINIAN STATE The UK claims to support a ‘two-state’ solution in Israel-Palestine but the body of a Palestinian state has long been in the morgue, although nobody dares to have a funeral. As long as Britain and other states continue to superficially endorse a two-state solution, Israel will become entrenched as a full-blown apartheid state with international blessing. ILAN PAPPÉ 23 September 2021 Britain today is a secondary actor in the international arena and its ability to influence the so-called peace process in Israel and Palestine is limited. It cannot be considered a significant contributor to efforts to find a solution to Israel’s continued colonisation and occupation of Palestine. Yet Britain bears massive historical responsibility for the situation of the Palestinian people and shares the overall Western blame for the present reality in the occupied territories. In 1917, after the so-called Balfour Declaration, Britain enabled the settler colonial movement of Zionism to begin a project of state building in Palestine. During its subsequent rule as a ‘mandatory’ power, the UK provided assistance to the small community of Jewish settlers to build the infrastructure of their future state, while being aware that the indigenous people of Palestine, who were 90% of the population in 1917, rejected this prospect. Support was given while many British officials on the ground were aware of the Zionist desire to take as much of Palestine as possible and have in it few Palestinians. Then came the Nakba (catastrophe), the Zionist ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948, when British officials and officers responsible for law and order watched passively as Israel expelled half of Palestine’s population, destroyed half of its villages, and demolished most of its urban space. Each such chapter in this history should have left some residues of guilt and a sense of accountability on the part of the British establishment, but it did not. For example, Britain’s shameful policies did not prevent it from joining Israel in an attempt to topple the most pro-Palestinian Arab leader, Egyptian leader Gamal Abdul Nasser, in 1956. And while Britain was a co-author of UN resolution 242, which could have led to a full Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in 1967, it did very little to insist on its implementation as a permanent member of the UN security council. Shukr- The Right of Allah Ta‘ala Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once mentioned the following: Expressing gratitude over a favour and being pleased with it, considering it to be purely the grace and mercy of Allah Ta‘ala, is the right which the one enjoying the favour owes to the One who bestowed him with the favour – Allah Ta‘ala. It is in reference to this that Allah Ta‘ala says in the Qur’aan Majeed: قُل بِفَضلِ اللّٰهِ وَبِرَحمَتِه فَبِذٰلِکَ فَلیَفْرَحُوا Say, “In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice.” (Surah Yunus v. 58) This form of happiness and joy is actually a form of shukr to Allah Ta‘ala and hence it is praiseworthy and desirable in deen. However, contrary to this, there is another form of happiness that equates to pride. This is where a person becomes boastful and happy over the bounty, attributing it to his own effort and achievement, and not to Allah Ta‘ala, and this is ingratitude to the One who bestowed the favour. The root cause of this ingratitude is that a person forgets and loses sight of the fact that this bounty and favour can be taken away from him at any moment. It is in reference to this boastful attitude that Allah Ta‘ala mentions in the Qur’aan Majeed: اِذْ قَالَ لَهُ قَوْمُهُ لَا تَفْرَحْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا یُحِبُّ الفَرِحِینَ When his people (the people of Qaaroon) said to him, “Do not be filled with boastfulness (in your happiness), indeed Allah does not like those who are filled with boastfulness (in their happiness).” (Surah Qasas v. 76) In the case of Qaaroon, he was happy over the wealth itself (not the bounty of Allah Ta‘ala), so look at what an evil end and outcome he met! When one receives the bounty and blessing, and then reflects that it belongs to Allah Ta‘ala and He may take it away at any time, then the feeling of gratitude that he experiences in his heart at that time is regarded as shukr to Allah Ta‘ala. USA Australia Germany To all those denying ‘Israel’ is an apartheid state, take a look at this picture! This is what the ‘normal life’ of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank looks like. In an interview about Amnesty International’s new report on Israel’s apartheid against Palestinians, Amnesty’s Secretary General Agnes Callamard said:
-
The Biden administration and the Amnesty report The US considers Amnesty International a credible organization when they report on human rights conditions around the globe—so long as their reporting does not criticize Israel. The US’s denial of the consensus among human rights organizations—that Israel is practicing apartheid against Palestinians—points to a glaring hypocrisy: the US refuses to hear criticism of Israel, no matter how thorough it is, even when it comes from sources the US government itself otherwise deems credible. Whether they acknowledge it or not, Israel is practicing apartheid against Palestinians right now with the full support of the United States. It is time they are both held accountable. www.instagram.com/p/CZfkUNFo-ra/ Clip worth watching

True Appreciation of Rajab By Shaykhul-Hadīth, Hadrat Mawlānā Muhammad Saleem Dhorat hafizahullāh With the advent of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims remember the great miracle of the Beloved Nabī of Allāh ta‘ālā, the Mi‘rāj, which is commonly believed to have taken place in this month. During this miracle, Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam travelled with his body and soul from Makkah Mukarramah to Baytul-Maqdis, and from there to the seven heavens and beyond and returned all in a split second. The first part of the journey, from Makkah Mukarramah to Al-Masjidul-Aqsā, is called the Isrā and is mentioned in the Glorious Qur’ān. The second part of the journey, from Al-Masjidul-Aqsā to the heavens and beyond, is known as the Mi‘rāj. The great Mufassir ‘Allāmah Ibn Kathīr rahimahullāh has enumerated twenty-five Sahābah radhiyallāhu ‘anhum who have narrated this second part of the journey from Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam. With regards to Mi‘rāj and the month of Rajab, let us keep the following points in mind: • Auspicious nights such as Laylatul-Qadr, Laylatul-Barā’ah and Laylatul-Jumu‘ah are full of virtue and blessing, but the difference between them and the night of Mi‘rāj is that this night was prominent in blessings only on the particular night when Nabī sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam made this blessed journey. The blessedness and prominence does not return every year. Therefore, to make special arrangements of any sort or to engage in ‘ibādah during this night, assuming it to be blessed, is baseless. There is no record of Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam or the Sahābah radhiyallāhu ‘anhum celebrating the night of Mi‘rāj. • This great miracle is commonly believed to have taken place on the 27th night of the Islamic month of Rajab. However, the ‘Ulamā hold differing opinions about the exact date. Hāfiz Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalānī rahimahullāh, the commentator of Sahīhul-Bukhārī, has quoted more than ten different opinions for the possible date of Mi‘rāj. If this night was meant to be observed and spent in ‘ibādah, there would have been no difference amongst the Sahābah radhiyallāhu ‘anhum, for their ‘ibādah would have clearly defined the time of occurrence. • The incident of Mi‘rāj is truly an extraordinary event and a blessing not bestowed upon any other prophet, angel or other creation of Allāh ta‘ālā, neither before nor after. The correct way of truly celebrating and appreciating this great event is to remember the very precious gift that Allāh ta‘ālā sent for us on that night i.e. salāh. The performance of the five daily salāh is the Mi‘rāj for the believers, as through ṣalāh they receive the honour of conversing with Allāh ta‘ālā. Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam said: Allāh ta‘ālā says in a Al-Hadīthul-Qudsī: By understanding the position of salāh in Islām, one can conclude that only that person who values the gift of Mi‘rāj can truly claim to have understood Mi‘rāj. When the month of Rajab would arrive, Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam used to make the following du‘ā: Allāhumma barik lana fī rajabin wa sha'bān, wa balighnā Ramadān. O Allāh! Grant us barakah in the months of Rajab and Sha‘bān and make us reach the month of Ramadān. (Al-Mu‘jamul-Awsat) Therefore, it is desirable to recite this du‘ā on the advent of Rajab. Upon the commencement of Rajab, everyone should focus their attention on making preparations for the blessed month of Ramadān. This preparation is a spiritual one and entails fulfilling one’s duties to Allāh ta‘ālā, especially in areas where one is lacking. Preparing for Ramadān from the month of Rajab is just like getting into a car and putting it in first gear. Begin to observe the compulsory and obligatory acts from now so that by the time Ramadān sets in, you are in fifth gear practising many optional acts of worship as well. May Allāh ta‘ālā give us the tawfīq to practise upon His entire Dīn according to the teachings of our Beloved Nabī sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam, and may He enable us to start making preparations for the month of Ramadān from now. At The Approach of Rajab and Sha’ban With the sighting of the crescent of Rajab, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would anticipate and begin preparations for the month of Ramadan. This is two months in advance! People "live to see" various accomplishments in their lives, but a Believer "lives for" and yearns to witness sacred days like these. Rajab Du'a Sayyiduna Anas Ibn Malik (radiyallahu'anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would recite the following supplication when the Month of Rajab would commence: اَللّٰهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَناَ فِيْ رَجَبٍ وَشَعْبانَ وَبَلّغْنَا رَمَضَانْ Allahumma barik lana fi Rajabuw wa Sha'bana wa balligh na Ramadan Translation: Oh Allah! Grant us Barakah (Blessing) during (the months of) Rajab and Sha'ban, and allow us to reach Ramadan. Darul Hadith Research Centre
