The Islamic Concept of Education

Recommended Posts

Religion Islam has always spoken about the comprehensive code of civilization and has covered various dimensions throughout the life. The fact is that Quran is the last Holy Book that was sent down on man. It is a fact that education is very necessary and a vital tool for moulding the human thought.  Islam has spoken about establishing and implementing its own ways of life. As a result, the mission of all the prophets is to establish religion, faith, mode of life and path. Therefore, in order to have a clear understanding about the religion Islam, you have to look upon the last messenger Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and observe what he has achieved in all of his life.

Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) has established a complete Islamic society in the Arabian peninsula and continued its flourishment for several years. It was not just religious society, instead it represented various Islamic principles in every walk of life. These principles can be political, economic, moral and cultural in nature. Islamic Education system is consists of clear objective of the recognition of Almighty Allah, who is the Ultimate Reality. He is the only one who has the complete knowledge of each and everything that is present in this Universe. He is the sustainer, the maintainer, the Creator and the Provider.

The last messenger Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) does not only speak about the significance and importance of knowledge, instead he  also provided various examples for promoting it as well. In the early battles fought between the unbelievers and Muslims, Muslims won and there were many prisoners of war at that time. There was then a criteria set about releasing the prisoners. One such criteria was devised by the Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) and it stated that those who are literate among the prisoners are free to go if they can teach ten Muslim children to read and write.
