What Is The Meaning Of Islam?

Recommended Posts

Each and every Religion of the world has been given the name after a person or community who invented it. Like for example Christianity takes its name from Prophet Jesus Christ. It is not the product of a human mind as well. It is regarded as a universal religion and its main objectives are to develop the qualities and attitude of Islam. The fact is that Islam is regarded as the title with respect to its attributes. Any person who possesses this attribute no matter from which country he belongs to is regarded as a Muslim. Holy Quran has also described the traits of a Muslim that he is a good and righteous person who has all the attributes.

Meaning of Islam:

The word Islam points out to submission to Almighty Allah.

Many words are penned down in order to praise divine religion and there are many complex definitions by different religious entities but in true essence, it is total submission to the will of Allah (SWT).

Islam teaches us that this life is a life of worship. We are placed on this earth in order to worship Allah and obey His command. During this earthly life we are subjected to a series of trials. We have the option of enduring these trials and conforming to certain laws, and our reward will be great in the next life, or we may decline to endure these trials and choose to not conform to the law, then we will be made to regret it in the next life.

Islam is derived from the Arabic root "Salema": peace, purity, submission and obedience. In the religious sense, Islam means submission to the will of God and obedience to His law.
