How Could I Act Sinfully?

How could I act sinfully?

When I know that Allah A’azza Wa Jall

Sees everything!

 

How could I utter a bad word?

When I know that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala

Hears everything!

How?

 

And how could I let my hand

Reach out for that which doesn’t belong to me?

How?

 

How could I judge someone

Unjustly?

How could I look jealously,

To what Allah gave generously,

To others?

How?

 

And how could I prevent these tears from falling

Whenever I remember Him?

How could I try

Not to cry?

And how could I tell a lie?

How could I walk arrogantly?

When Al Qur’an says:

"And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men

Nor walk in insolence through the earth;

For Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.”

 

How could I hide a dreadful thought?

When I know that:

“If there be (but) the weight of a mustard-seed

And it were (hidden) in a rock,

Or (anywhere) in the heavens or on earth,

Allah will bring it forth”

How?

 

But how could I be hopeless?

When I know that He Said:

[Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins:

For He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.]
