Khalwat

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum

Is it allowed for a Sister to discuss matters related to studies with na-mahram teacher via text message? The conversation if isn't not kept public, would be regarded as khalwah or not?

Answer:

If the discussion via the computer is strictly formal and  necessary,
then it will be permissible. Furthermore, if the teacher is a faasiq, then even such discussion with him will be haraam. It will be haraam to  take lessons  from him.

Also, if the teacher is a young Maulana, then too it will not be
permissible. It will be haraam khalwat with a male. And, if it is a
maulana who appears on facebook,  then the evil is worse. It will be
immoral.
