Imam ash-Shāfi'ī رحمه الله:

 

The dignity of a man is in three things;

 

• Hiding poverty until people consider from your integrity that you are rich.

 

• Hiding anger until people consider that you are pleased.

 

• Hiding hardship until people consider that you are prosperous.
